The Art Of Rushing Slowly – How To Slow Down And Get More Done

Did you ever see the movie Wild? It’s the true story of writer Cheryl Strayed – played by Reese Witherspoon – who hikes the 4600 km Pacific Crest Trail on the west coast of America? My idea of heaven!! For the past week I’ve been binge watching videos of people doing that trail, or sections of it, fantasising about taking five months out to just be in nature. No stuff, no shopping, no pressure!!   Today I’m talking about actions you can take to slow down the pace of your own life – without having to trek alone in the wilderness for five solid months. And why it’s so important we slow down. No tips or tricks here though, on how to cull your todo list. This is about slowing down the pace at which you move through life, physically. So you can tune into the messages from the Universe and your own higher self, Read More…

When Procrastination Bites

Let’s talk about procrastination. Or wait…maybe we should talk about it later….   It was the beginning of spring and a beautiful sunshiny day. I was working from my dining table, bored and miserable, the glistening sea in the distance calling to me. I was supposed to be collecting the contact details of tech bloggers, mummy bloggers, health and wellness writers, productivity people and more. Anyone who might be interested in the meditation app I was busy creating. Which is like millions of people! And entering them all in an Excel spreadsheet. Not only does Excel make me want to throw my laptop out the window, it also happens to be very difficult locating the contact details of these people. Blehhh!!!   So rather than suffer, I took myself and Snoop – my dog, not the gangster rapper – off to the beach instead.       As I arrived I ran into a friend who’d Read More…

Welcome To My Day Of Fun

Today as part of Natalie’s Blog Challenge my mission was to go out and have an adventure and write about it. To practice having a life of adventure. To be honest I don’t really need practice in fun and adventure. In fact I’m a master at it. But I really did need a break after all this writing I’ve been doing in every spare minute of my day!! But! I didn’t know I was meant to be having this adventure. Feeling pretty exhausted from trying to keep up with all the posts, plus being in different time zone, I was a day behind and didn’t read the email until the next day. Lucky for me I happened to go out for the entire day and night and did lots of different things with a variety of people and had a lot of fun! Unfortunately I missed the part about taking pictures of me throughout the Read More…

How To Balance A Life Of Work and Freedom

25 years ago I came up with the crazy dream to some day live with all of my friends in tropical paradise. Maybe you read the book The Beach? Or saw the movie that came out few years later? Well the guy that wrote that book had been in the exact same place as me, on the exact same beach, when he had the idea for the book. It was one of those places that made you want to live like that forever. Sadly it wasn’t a great book. Or a great movie. But it was half of a good idea. What was good was the idea of living in paradise with beautiful, loving people. What was missing from the equation was that being idle on a beautiful beach doing nothing to contribute gets boring. Depressing even. In the movie they all started killing each other!   My idea now Read More…

How To Stay Focussed On The Most Important Things

Hola!   Today’s topic is not proving to be an easy one. It’s not easy is because I’m doing my bestest to make my posts in this challenge relatable to you. And I’m not sure how discussing what things I’ll put in place to stay focussed in MY business may be relevant to you. Because maybe you don’t have your own business. Maybe you don’t even want your own business. But stick with me as I try and make it applicable. And introduce you to two people who’ve had a big influence on how I approach work and life in general.   Specifically the purpose of this post is to help me (you) identify some ways that ensure I get the most important things done each day. Because when you work from home on your laptop, or you’re not locked into a schedule, there are endless other things to distract and tempt Read More…

How To Figure Out What To Do When You Grow Up

Darling, today I’m sharing a really great exercise that I promise will get your creative neurons firing, Especially good if you’re trying to think up a business idea, or you simply need a change of direction. It’s something that’s come up for me a few times over the years in biz courses I’ve taken. Online and off. It involves making two lists: What you love doing most What you’re especially good at The third step is to check out how you can combine the two to come up with your Sweet Spot.   My list of things I like doing is always very long. There are so many thing I love doing. Like traveling, singing, acting, writing, cooking, talking and listening to people, communicating ideas, dancing. It goes on and on. And a few of those things I’m sorta good at too. The key here is to pare down the Read More…

Attract Your Dream Life With The Perfect Day Exercise

Lately as I knuckle down into private mentoring I’m asking everyone I meet or hang out with What’ your big dream?  Because my mission is help you realise that dream. What I’m discovering though is how many of you don’t really have a big dream.   Either you’ve never really thought about it, or you haven’t let yourself believe you could achieve your wildest dreams. Are you somewhere on this spectrum?   If you’re in the category that doesn’t believe you can achieve your dreams, there’s another way to ask this. Try asking: If you COULD BELIEVE you could have anything, what would you believe?   Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly where you’d live or what work you’d be doing. The details are not important.   It’s enough to contemplate the elements that you do want. Like the weather. Or the hours you work. Or how Read More…

What’s Your Why?

Ever since I came home crying from school as a seven year old on my first day of school in Miami – when I was forced to pledge my allegiance to the American flag – freedom has been a dominant theme in my life. Truth and rebellion are also right up there! I’ve never liked being told what to do or how to do it, and I hate the idea that anyone has dominion over me or anyone else for that matter. Decades later freedom is still the reason I do everything I do. For myself and for others. It’s all about freedom. But there are many layers to freedom. Freedom is so much more than being able to do what you want – when, where and how you want to do it. True freedom also means having unmitigated access to the truth. How else can we make fully Read More…

What’s Blocking Your Freedom?

Today I’m starting Natalie’s 10 day Blog Challenge…to get my writing juices flowing and my hopefully my business ass in gear! I had planned for this post to be about my recent trip to Bali. A fantabulous trip that was all about finding and nailing down a beautiful place to hold my first retreat for July of next year. But something else has popped up. Expect to hear more very soon about the transformational retreat I’m putting together for next July called ‘Relight My Fire!’. WOOHOO!! And know that magic happened, and I found that beeeeeautiful place. And that you’re invited!! But for today I’m starting this challenge led by a fellow freedom worshiper that I follow.  Because as you may have noticed, I’m very inconsistent with my blog and I’m hoping this challenge will address that inconsistency. The topics in the blog challenge relate to my fave subject, FREEDOM. And the life of freedom I’m setting up Read More…
